Magnificent magnesium

Magnesium—either consumed as part of your diet or as a dietary supplement—is essential to your health and well-being. Homeopathic Magnesium salts can also help the treatment of various conditions.

Magnesium plays multiple roles in maintaining your health. It
• Relieves acid indigestion and constipation
• Strengthens your bones, your metabolism, and your nervous system
• Stimulates the production of dopamine, which is known for its calming effects
• May also help to relieve
- addiction tendencies
- anxiety, depression
- headaches including migraines
- insomnia
- irritability
- postpartum depression
- short-term memory loss
- suicidal thoughts
- traumatic brain injury
BUT no safe dose has been established for effectively treating all mental health issues, and it is not suggested that it be used by itself and/or without proper medical consultation.

When consumed orally in hot water, Magnesia phosphorica or Mag phos can help to relieve
• Mild respiratory difficulties including chronic, mild asthma
• Hiccups
• Extended bouts of coughing
• Leg cramps
• Menstrual cramps
• Neuralgia
• Pain associated with childbirth
• Stomach aches
• Twitching, especially in the eyes

Magnesium is plentiful in almonds, baked potatoes, beans, broccoli, brown rice, cashews, dairy products, halibut, leafy greens, legumes, fortified oatmeal, peanut butter, spinach, squash, tofu, and whole grains. The Recommended Dietary Allowance is 310-320 mg per day for women and 400-420 mg per day for men. You should not exceed 350 mg of magnesium per day in dietary supplement form because of magnesium’s laxative properties and its effect on other medications and supplements including antibiotics, blood pressure medication, calcium, muscle relaxants, and Vitamin D.

Your risk of magnesium deficiency increases with
• Age and female gender
• Exclusively choosing coffee and/or soda as your beverages of choice
• Excessive alcohol consumption
• Too much salt in your diet
• Prolonged stress
• Sweating, especially when not properly re-hydrating
• Heavy menstrual periods

Consult your health practitioner for the right dose for treating your symptoms or supplementing your diet. A properly trained homeopath will help to determine if a magnesium salt is suitable in your healthcare.
